Definitions:
It is important to define these acts, in order to clarify our policies and to continue to shed light on how harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation can make others feel.
Harassment, Discrimination, and Retaliation
Harassment is the act of systematic and/or continued unwanted and annoying actions of one party or a group, including threats and demands. The purposes may vary, including racial prejudice, personal malice, an attempt to force someone to quit a job or grant sexual favors, apply illegal pressure to collect a bill, or merely gain sadistic pleasure from making someone fearful or anxious. Harassment can be verbal (including slurs, jokes, insults, epithets, gestures or teasing), visual (including offensive posters, symbols, cartoons, drawings, computer displays, or e-mails) or physical (including physically threatening another, blocking someone’s way, etc.) that denigrates or shows hostility or aversion towards an individual because of any protected characteristic.
Discrimination is treating differently or denying or granting a benefit to an individual because of the individual’s protected characteristic.
Retaliation is when an individual takes negative action against another person who files a formal complaint about discrimination or harassment.
How Bound By Fate Brewing handles Harassment, Discrimination, and Retaliation
Bound By Fate Brewing does not tolerate discrimination or harassment, sexual or otherwise, in the workplace, be it employees, vendors, or customers. Employees, vendors, or customers experiencing harassment of any kind are encouraged to report this behavior directly to Pam Pradachith-Demler (Owner/CEO), at pam@boundbyfatebrewing.com or Katy Scullin (General Manager), at katy@boundbyfatebrewing.com.
Any reported incidents are immediately investigated by management, and if necessary, an independent party. During investigation, any effort to retaliate against someone who reports claims of harassment or discrimination, and/or is found guilty of the reported incident, will receive corrective action, and/or be subject to termination. Should a customer be found guilty of these actions, they will be banned from entering the Bound By Fate Brewing taproom for life.
Retaliation, harassment, and discrimination are all illegal, and in violation of NYS and Federal law.
